They are getting so big, it’s kind of freaking me out. They were microscopic when we got them.
I’m not sure I’m doing this 100% right. From what I’ve read, you’re not supposed to use a pump or a filter in the tank. The paper said to age the water and let it get room temp, etc. Well, the water needs to be clean or it smells nasty. I pour them out into a colander and fill the tank with fresh tap water.
These are in my home on a live or die basis. If they live fine, if not, that’s fine too! So clean tank or die. And I'll clean it however is the fastest. No, really, they’re doing fine. We have 6 out of 10 left. Not sure what happened to a couple of them? Then Brett handled one and it died. One I accidently dumped down the drain while cleaning the tank. Whoops! Hope it dies down there so it doesn’t end up somewhere it shouldn’t.
Stormy loves to drink out the tank and the kids check them out everyday.

Did you order your tadpoles?
ReplyDeleteWe've done ants now for awhile...I was considering "branching out". :-) That's why I asked if your ordered them. If so, where?
ReplyDeleteI did order the tadpoles from Nasco. I wouldn't recommend it only because I didn't really know what I was getting. Turns out these are African Clawed Frogs. They get pretty big & ugly. They can't be released either, they have to be given away, donated to a lab or destroyed. There must be other places to get more common frogs.
